Heating/Hot Water and Water Charge
This applies to sheltered schemes where Headrow provides the heating, hot water and water charge to individual flats. The residents pay for this through the service charge. This charge is not eligible for Housing Benefit.
Service Charge
The service charge covers the cost of charges relating mainly to the communal areas of the scheme and includes items such as communal gardening, cleaning, lighting, lifts, fire detection/fire fighting equipment, and depreciation over time for communal items such as lifts, door entry systems and fire equipment etc. This charge is fully eligible for Housing Benefit.
Please note that Headrow does not make a profit from the service charge. Headrow only charge for the costs incurred and strives to achieve best value for money. Any surplus or loss made in one year is carried onto the following years’ service charge.
Supporting People
This charge covers the warden costs and the costs of monitoring the warden call alarm system to the schemes. The local authority sets this charge.
