SNOW, ICE and GRITTING
Since the extreme weather conditions experienced last winter Headrow has written a Gritting Protocol, which has been adopted by
your Residents Maintenance Committee.
Regulations states that arrangements should be made to minimise risks from snow and ice. There is no absolute duty to ensure that every piece of land owned by Headrow Ltd is kept totally clear of snow and ice at all times. The duty is to do what is reasonably practicable.
Headrow Ltd will use its best endeavours to fulfil the aims of this protocol but the nature of the work required and the presence of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances may prevent it being fully realised under some environmental or other conditions.
Residents must accept responsibility for their own safety and for other persons who may be affected by their acts and should act upon the advice given by local, regional, national media and
Meteorological
office.
Residents are advised not to carry out ad hoc DIY gritting of Headrow Ltd communal areas using grit from bins, as this may lead to legal claims, but instead to contact Headrow Ltd for approved contractors to carry out the gritting.
A service level agreement is now in place for contractors to attend site upon resident request to clear snow and grit from the main building entrance to the highway and leading car park only.
The gritting protocol will be sited on noticeboards.
